Baron Hill fails to
intimidate radio stations;
Vows to silence issue advocacy groups
BLOOMINGTON- Congressman Baron Hill failed in his legal maneuvering today
to intimidate over a dozen radio stations to stop airing issue ads from
Citizens for Truth.
Despite threat letters from Hill's attorney's, radio stations throughout
Southern Indiana refused to be intimidated. After Citizens for Truth
responded to Hill's meritless allegations, every station agreed to keep the
ads running. To listen to the radio ads visit

During a radio interview in Bloomington Thursday afternoon, Congressman
Baron Hill bristled about the ads being run by Citizens for Truth that
revealed his vote against protecting God in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Hill's defensive remarks came during an interview on AM1370 WGCL's
"Afternoon Edition."
Citizens for Truth President Herman Bernitt responded to Hill's unfounded
claims that the group was spreading lies about his record. "Baron Hill is
the one who is not telling the truth," said Bernitt, "He doesn't want
people in Southern Indiana to know that he slipped off to Washington and
voted against the Pledge Protection Act, along with the likes of far-left
Members of Congress Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and Rosa DeLauro."
The Pledge Protection Act (HR 2028, Roll Call Vote 467) would remove
jurisdiction from the federal courts in hearing cases involving the
constitutionality of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.
"Baron Hill's vote was so out-of-step with Hoosier values that we couldn't
sit by and let him get away with hiding this secret," Bernitt said.
"We are focused on issues-- nothing else," he said, "But I'm not surprised
that Baron is upset about us exposing his vote against protecting God in
the Pledge, if I were him, I'd be ashamed of it too."
At the end of the radio show, Hill shocked listeners by vowing to go back
to Washington and ban issue advocacy groups like Citizens for Truth.
"Congressman Hill is angry at us for exposing his liberal voting record
and now he wants to use his congressional power to silence us, said
Bernitt, "Apparently Baron Hill has as little regard for the First
Amendment as he has for the Pledge of Allegiance."
